A North Carolina sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man who allegedly fired on him and other deputies as they responded to a domestic dispute call.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that a woman reported around 11pm Monday night that she had been assaulted by 61-year-old Briscoe Tim Woodell.

Woodell allegedly threatened to shoot deputies when they arrived to the home at 1257 Sink Farm Rd to speak with Woodell and conduct an investigation into the assault.
Woodell barricaded himself into a barn-like building and the victim fled to her mother's home.
