A seemingly harmless skit performed years ago by NBC’s “Today” show seems far less harmless now, given former “Today” show anchor Matt Lauer’s termination Wednesday over allegations of “inappropriate sexual behavior.”
Aired in December of 2014, according to NewsBusters, the skit opened with an accidental spill that left Lauer with stained slacks. Then, as “Lauer was having his pants ironed by an NBC staffer, the NBC anchor turned to Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales, Jenna Bush Hager and Tamron Hall, opened his suit jacket and told them to ‘drink it in, ladies.'”

Since it was all an act, the women simply played along.
“Again, Matt? Really?” Morales asked rhetorically.
Time - Week - Hager
“It’s the third time this week,” said Hager.
“Did your mommy give you those?” asked Hall.
Women - Lauer - Room - Anchor - Responding
The four women then mocked Lauer as they exited the room, with the anchor responding by exclaiming, “Get it while it lasts.”
Women - Participants - Sketch - Lauer - Behavior
While some would rightly note that all four women were willing participants in the sketch, some might argue that Lauer’s behavior is a little too close for comfort to the allegations against him.
“Today” co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb announced the allegations and Lauer’s termination Wednesday morning by reading from a company-wide memo sent moments earlier by NBC CEO, Andy Lack.
Monday - Night - Complaint - Colleague - Behavior
“On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,” the memo read. “It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards.”
