BBC One viewers were left stunned after Dizzee Rascal swore live on air before the watershed on Friday, forcing the presenters to issue a swift public apology.

The grime star, 33, was performing on new music show Sounds Like Friday night, when he let slip with a series of expletives, leaving early-evening viewers gobsmacked.

Bop - N - Keep - Dippin - Dizzee

Performing new single Bop N Keep It Dippin, Dizzee forgot to censor the obscenity-ridden lyrics, despite the pre-8pm appearance.

Mic in hand, the rapper's lyrics included him saying 'mother******,' among other rude words, causing fans to rush to Twitter to discuss the sweary outburst, stunned that the Dizzee had blundered so badly.

One Twitter user took such exception he said: 'Does not matter what you think of Dizzee Rascal. Mother****** is not the sort of lyric which should be aired at 7.30.'

While another asked, stunned: 'Did Dizzee Rascal just say mother******?'

Once Dizzee's song ended, embarrassed hosts Greg James and Dotty were forced to apologise for the rapper's choice of words.
