Former Vice President Joe Biden intervened in Alabama's special Senate election, endorsing Doug Jones in the Democratic primary on Thursday.

Biden recorded a robocall urging voters to vote for Jones, a former federal prosecutor who is known for his handling of the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala.

Jones' campaign released the text of Biden's robocall in a Facebook post.

"Doug has spent his entire life fighting for justice," Biden said.
