Jay-Z‘s new album 4:44 has been the talk around town since it dropped exclusively on Tidal last Friday. The “99 Problems” rapper spends the majority of the record owning up to his mistakes and past failures, including an admittance of his extramarital affairs, culminating in an apology to his wife, Beyonce.
However, it’s the album’s thinly-veiled shots at his fellow hip-hop brethren which are the sudden topic of conversation. Firstly, Jay’s longtime collaborator and label mate Kanye West is said to be parting ways with Tidal, allegedly over a money dispute, but one can’t help but think the negative Ye references on track “Kill Jay Z” didn’t help matters.
