A record-breaking blast of summer-like weather has hit New York and other parts of the Northeast.
It was 101 degrees at LaGuardia airport, shattering the airport's old record of 97 degrees set back in 1961, reported NBC New York.
Central - Park - Degrees - Noon - Newark
In Central Park, it was 92 degrees by noon; and at Newark Airport it was 99 degrees breaking the old record of 98 from 1961.
On Long Island in Islip, it was 93 degrees, beating the 1988 record of 92.
Days - Row - Monday - LaGuardia - Degrees
That's two record-setting days in a row. On Monday, LaGuardia reached 95 degrees, topping its 1988 record of 92 degrees. Central Park tied its previous record of 93 degrees, set in 1973.
But on Tuesday, relief was felt in the upper part of the state as cooler temps swept in, but thunderstorms and small hail was in the Hudson Valley area.
Monday - New - Jersey - Newark - Liberty
On Monday, New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport recorded a sweltering 97 degrees on Monday, breaking its 1973 record of 95 degrees.
It was a little cooler on Long Island, where Islip reached 91 degrees, topping its 1988 record by three degrees.
