TV judge Glenda Hatchett has revealed how her daughter-in-law tragically died from massive blood loss 12 hours after giving birth via a cesarean in hospital.

Kyira Dixon Johnson, 39, died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in April last year after the scheduled c-section delivery of her second son with husband Charles S. Johnson IV.

Hatchett stood with her devastated son outside the hospital on Wednesday as they revealed Johnson had filed a wrongful death lawsuit over his wife's death.

The lawsuit alleges that the doctors in charge of Kyira's care failed to properly respond to her symptoms and adequately treat her when she started bleeding after the birth.

Doctors - Hours - Birth - Liters - Blood

When doctors operated on her hours after the birth, they allegedly found three liters of blood in her abdomen, court documents claim.

Kyira gave birth to their second son Langston at 2.33pm on April 12 and she was taken to recovery at 3pm where she was able to 'skin to skin' bond with the baby.

Nurses - Blood - Catheter - Hours

Nurses allegedly first noticed blood in her urine catheter about three hours later.

The lawsuit claims her doctors were made aware of Kyira's situation multiple times as nurses continued to monitor her.

A doctor ordered that CT scans be carried out of Kyira's abdomen and pelvis given she was suffering from abdominal pain and had a flow of blood in her catheter, the lawsuit claims. The...
