Louisiana cops have threatened to arrest LSU players for smoking inside their locker room after they beat the Clemson Tigers in a 42-25 victory Monday.

The Louisiana State University players took advantage of tradition to light up but were surprised when police at the Mercedes Benz Superdome ordered them to put it out.

While smoking inside a public building is illegal in the state, officials tend to turn a blind eye for the college football celebration.

The team even included a shot of presumed no.1 NFL draft Joe Burrow puffing away on a stogie in their highlight video shared on Twitter.

So they found it difficult to take seriously a word of warning from a law enforcement officer who tried to enforce the no smoking rule post-game.

'Several players laughed at the warning like it was a joke but the cop wasn't smiling,' AL.com reported.

The unusual complaint for the professional sports team came after midnight and 15 minutes into their celebration behind closed doors.

'Another officer tried to tell them it was OK to celebrate with a smoke in the locker room but he insisted his commander told him it was a no-go,' AL.com reported.
