With the 2020s just around the corner, it’s time to update our nostalgia. Nostalgia, it is said, works primarily on 30-year cycles, offering those at the peak of their purchasing power an opportunity to relive their childhoods. This cycle has been the secret behind countless movies and television shows; remember when “Stranger Things” crashed into mainstream popular culture by coopting the concepts of ’80s horror movies and Stephen King novels? That certainly wasn’t an accident.
