Police hunting man they fear stabbed women aged 61 and 71

Police hunting for the perpetrator responsible for the stabbing of two women within half a mile of each other last month have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to.

One victim, a 71-year-old woman, was left with serious injuries after she was stabbed by a hooded man in a 'disturbing and violent' attack in Derker, Oldham at 6pm on November 20.

The incident is believed to be linked to an earlier attack on November 1 which saw another woman, 61, stabbed in similar circumstances just half a mile from the site of the earlier incident at around 6.30pm.

Both victims were taken to hospital with serious injuries and are now recovering at home after being discharged.

Greater Manchester Police has now released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assaults.

Det Insp Benjamin Cottam, of the GMP's Major Incident Team said: 'Thankfully both women survived these violent and motiveless attacks but police are still working tirelessly to find whoever is responsible for these assaults.
