Bible App Reveals Most Popular Bible Verses for 2019

If you’re reading this, chances are high that you have (either currently or at some point in your life) the YouVersion Bible App on your smartphone or another device. The popular app has been installed on over 400 million devices; users enjoy access to Scripture and other Bible study tools from virtually anywhere. Like other apps, YouVersion tracks the activity of its users, including the most popular Bible verses. This year, the verse users most engaged with was Philippians 4:6.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done,” Philippians 4:6 reads. “Most engaged with” refers to users either highlighting, sharing, or bookmarking the verse.

The most engaged with verse this year is similar in some ways to last year’s verse: Isaiah 41:10: “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” 2017’s verse of the year also contained instruction telling us not to worry or be afraid. Considering the rising levels of anxiety in people—both Christian and non-believers—around the world, it should be no surprise that people would refer to these instructions repeatedly.

In fact, Scripture for anxiety is a google search term that garners 1,4000 searches a month.
