Police hunting for a missing baby girl whose mother was found murdered in their Connecticut home have turned their search to charity donation bins following a tip-off.

Fears are growing for one-year-old Venessa Morales, who has not been seen since Friday.

Police - Amber - Alert - Child - Wednesday

Police issued an Amber Alert for the child Wednesday afternoon after her mother was found dead with blunt force trauma at their home in Ansonia, Connecticut, on Monday.

A heavy police presence has been seen around several charity donation bins in Hamden, 15 miles away from the crime scene, WTNH reported.

'It's a lead we're following that we were given,' Ansonia Police Chief Andrew Cota III told WTNH.

Police have not confirmed that the investigation is connected to Morales' disappearance.
