Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg released LGBTQ+ rights plans Thursday ahead of CNN’s LGBTQ forum.
The two Democratic presidential candidates are set to attend the town hall Thursday in Los Angeles focusing on ****, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer issues.
Warren - Plan - LGBTQ+ - Rights - Equality
Warren’s plan, titled “Securing LGBTQ+ Rights and Equality,” said her presidency would “lift up the voices of LGBTQ+ people and fight back against discrimination.”
The senator promised to provide equal justice for LGBTQ+ people, provide LGBTQ+ Americans with affordable housing, fight for “equitable, inclusive, and gender-affirming health care,” improve LGBTQ+ data collections, end the murder of transgender women and fight for LGBTQ+ rights in American foreign policy.
Path - LGBTQ+ - Equality - LGBTQ+ - Equality
“The path to LGBTQ+ equality is far from over, but shoulder to shoulder, I will fight for LGBTQ+ equality in solidarity with the leaders and organizers who have been at the helm from the very beginning,” Warren’s plan reads. “Because when we organize together, when we fight together, and when we persist together, we can win.”
Buttigieg’s plan, titled “Becoming Whole,” said that “LGBTQ+ people aren’t just bystanders in American history — they are drivers of it.”
