Police divers find woman's body inside a car

A woman's body has been found in a fast-flowing river by police searching for a nurse who vanished in her hospital scrubs.

Nurse Laurie Jones, 23, was spotted leaving her night shift at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

But the alarm was raised the staff nurse failed to return to her home 17 miles away - and was reported missing by her worried family.

Laurie was still wearing her work clothes as she left Wales biggest hospital for the drive home to Pontllanfraith, Caerphilly, at 1.40am on Tuesday.

Police later said a woman's body had been found dead in a car in a river just a mile from Laurie's home - although no formal identification has yet taken place.
