A state attorney general in northwestern Mexico confirmed that a former model, rumored to have been the leader of a hit squad tied to El Chapo's old cartel, was not assassinated but actually died of a drug overdose.
Claudia Ochoa Félix was found dead Saturday night in the home of a male companion she had gone out with the previous night in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

Mexican outlet Milenio reported that the man tried to wake up Ochoa Félix, who was naked in the bed, at 6:50pm local time, but that she was unresponsive. He then contacted paramedics.

Sinaloa State Attorney General Juan José Rios Estavillo told reporters on Monday that forensic examiners made 'an analysis of the various [substances] this person consumed and they tested positive.'
