Fears for missing five-year-old New Jersey girl who vanished while playing in a park

Police and volunteers in New Jersey are desperately searching for a five-year-old girl who went missing from a park Monday evening.

Dulce Maria Alavez was last seen at around 5pm in Bridgeton Park, a 1,500-acre area that includes a canal known as Raceway and the Cohanzick Zoo.

Aunt - Elena - Alavez - Niece - Sibling

Her aunt, Elena Alavez, said her niece was playing with her sibling when she wandered off.

The woman told 6ABC in Spanish it's as if the earth swallowed her up.

Dulce - Pants - Flowers - T-shirt - Sandals

Dulce was last seen wearing checkered pants with flowers, a yellow T-shirt and white sandals.

The Bridgeport Police Department released screenshots from surveillance video showing Dulce entering a grocery store with her family and opening an ice cream refrigerator.

Child - Feet - Inches - Medium - Build

The child is 3 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build, and has long dark hair tied in a ponytail.

Dulce arrived in the park with her mother, 19-year-old Noemia Alavez Perez, her three-year-old brother and her eight-year-old aunt.
