A food critic has come under fire on social media after penning a scathing review about his controversial views on why chicken parmigiana is the 'worst dish ever'.
Good Food Australia writer Callan Boys sparked outrage on Twitter after he suggested the nation's favourite pub meal was an 'abuse to deep-fried chook' and a 'waste of kilojoules' in his latest opinion piece.

The food and drink writer likened the classic dish to 'joints with too many TAB screens and not enough hand wash in the loo'.
'How did the pub chef ruin a perfectly good schnitzel? By covering it with tomato sauce more acrid than Easy-Off Bam and coagulated dishcloth disguised as cheese,' Boys wrote.

The writer went on to say how much he appreciates Campania's parmigiana di melanzane, also known as eggplant parmigiana, because it 'speaks of its region' - but a chicken parmigiana 'speaks of men who miss Ralph magazine'.

'It speaks of a chef who would rather be anywhere other than in a kitchen where 90 per cent of prep involves a Birds Eye box,' Boys said.
Boys said the term 'parmy' made his 'ears vomit' - much like the terms 'toastie', 'bubbly' and 'food baby'.
