Safari guide follows lion tracks… but doesn't realise the entire pride are just a few yards away

This is the heart-stopping moment a safari guide gets out his truck to follow a set of lion tracks - but does not realise the entire pride are hidden just yards away.

The presenter, who grew up in Johannesburg, jumps off his vehicle when he gets to a junction, having spotted lion pugmarks in the sand.

Mr - Faulconbridge - Cubs - Tracks - Walks

Broadcasting live, Mr Faulconbridge follows the cubs' tracks and walks around to the back of the truck - without noticing blotches of yellow in the bush in front of him.

He gets around 10ft away from his car as he continues to search with his head down.

Lions - Grass - Road

But suddenly around eight lions spring up out of the long grass near an adjoining road.

Mr Faulconbridge comically freezes with his hands in the air and quickly backtracks as he says: 'Oh my word. Oh my word.'

He creeps away from the pride with his hands behind his back and looks at the camera as he continues to...
