Celebrated Aboriginal actress, 52, dies of an asthma attack while touring the UK

Aboriginal actress Ningali Lawford-Wolf has died of an asthma attack at the age of 52 on Sunday while on tour in Scotland.

The mother-of- five was touring with the Sydney Theatre Company for The Secret River at the Edinburgh International Festival, leaving colleagues devastated.

A statement on behalf of the Wangkatjungka woman described the 'talented performer as 'a wonderfully caring and thoughtful person'.

'We've lost one of the Australian theatre's greatest treasures,' the statement read.

Some of her loved ones had travelled to Scotland when they learned she was taken to hospital after falling ill.

She was surrounded by close family and friends when she died from asthma, The Australian reported.
