Man is arrested at the Pentagon after driving there with a loaded shotgun and ammo bought at Walmart

An allegedly drunk Kentucky man was arrested outside the Pentagon on Tuesday after authorities said he drove there with a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, multiple knives and ammunition he said he bought at Walmart.

Police said Charles Lawson of Pineville, Kentucky appeared, 'visibly intoxicated,' when he approached two Pentagon officers around 3.30pm on August 6 and told them he was visiting the military headquarters on, 'liberty business,' according to Fox 5 DC.

The officers said they handcuffed Lawson before searching his vehicle, where they found a shotgun loaded with six shells, an 18-inch rusty machete, a red Swiss Army knife and a yellow pocket knife in addition to marijuana and an open bottle of Jim Beam whiskey.

'The man admitted that he had a loaded weapon in his vehicle and verbally consented to a search of his vehicle,' Department of Defense spokesperson Heather Babb told the Daily Mail in an emailed statement.
