Texas cop is charged with aggravated assault of black drugs suspect

A Houston police officer has been indicted after he was accused of assaulting a suspect during a drug arrest.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced that officer Shane Privette has been indicted on a charge of aggravated assault by a public servant.

Privette - Dewayne - Walker - Face - Knee

Privette is accused of hitting 52-year-old Dewayne Walker's face with his knee during a November 2017 arrest in a gas station parking lot.

His mugshot was released on Tuesday.

Houston - Police - Chief - Art - Acevedo

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a statement that Privette has been relieved of duty 'pending further investigation and proceedings of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office'.

Privette's attorney says he will turn himself in.
