The mother of Matthew Fenner, who said he was beaten for being gay by members of a North Carolina church cult in 2013, has said the group 'brainwashed' her as she now supports her son, after first testifying against him at his alleged attackers criminal trial.

Fenner, now 26, detailed how at the age of 19 he was allegedly held down and choked by at least five people because he supposedly had 'homosexual demons' within him, to the point of fearing for his life in a 'sanctuary' at the Word of Faith Fellowship church during a process called 'blasting' prayer.

Fenner - Detail - Fears - Church - Someone

Fenner goes into more detail about his fears that the so-called church will kill someone with its allegedly violent practices in a special titled 'People Magazine Investigates: Cults' which is scheduled to premiere on July 8 on Discovery ID.

'They're doing to this other people, and this is the only thing I can do to help,' Fenner said.
