Walgett mother Alinta gives birth to her baby boy at 15,000 feet mid-air on the way to the hospital

A young mother has given birth to her baby boy at 15,000 feet after going into labour mid-air when she was on her way to her nearest hospital.

Alinta, who lives in Walgett in regional northern New South Wales, was airlifted to a Dubbo hospital, about a 45 minute flight from her hometown.

But just 15 minutes into the trip, the first-time mother was forced to deliver her healthy son Alexander with the help of a midwife via Air Ambulance on June 7.

'Matt [partner] was a bit concerned, and so [we] got on the air ambulance, and 15 minutes later, gave birth in the air,' Alinta told Sunrise.
