Nicole Scherzinger used her 3.8million reach to educated her followers about plastic pollution on Tuesday.

The singer, 40, took to her Instagram account to share several snaps of herself interrupting her idyllic boat trip around the Italian island of Capri to fish plastic waste out of the Tyrrhenian sea.

Clad in a bright yellow bikini, the former X Factor judge used a long pole to scoop the rubbish out of the crystal clear waters, captioning her post with a moving message.

She shared: 'In America alone we throw away 100 BILLION plastic bags each year! It only takes 1 to kill an endangered sea turtle that has confused it for a jellyfish to eat.
