With Charlie's Angels hitting theaters in November, director/star Elizabeth Banks has opened up about bringing this franchise back to the big screen.
The actress-writer-director-producer opened up about branching out into filmmaking in a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

She also broke down her elaborate pitch to revive the Charlie's Angels property and re-brand it as a global spy franchise.
Charlie's Angels began on the small screen with the iconic TV series starring Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, which ran from 1976 to 1981.

There was also a return to the small screen with the 2011 Charlie's Angels, starring Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor, but now the franchise is coming back to theaters.
When asked about why she wanted to bring Charlie's Angels back to the big screen with a brand new approach.

'I thought you could expand the world beyond three women on the beach in California and relaunch it as a global spy franchise,' she said.
'I thought about [the detective agency's faceless boss] Charles Townsend as the basis of it, and the '70s, which is when I was born, and the women's movement over the past 40 years,' she added.
