Cruz Offers to Join Forces With AOC Again After She Sided With the GOP on Over-the-Counter Birth Control

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) hopes to continue working across the aisle by offering to team up with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for another bill.

This bill would fast-track the FDA to approve birth control to be sold over-the-counter instead of requiring a prescription. Ocasio-Cortez tweeted her approval of the statement, suggesting people needed to “pass it on.” Cruz responded, asking if she would like to work on a bill to make that a reality.

“I agree. Perhaps, in addition to the legislation we are already working on together to ban Members of Congress from becoming lobbyists, we can team up here as well,” tweeted Cruz. “A simple, clean bill making birth control available over the counter. Interested?”

The lawmaker retweeted a post in response, pointing out another congresswoman had already cosponsored a similar bill.
