Group planning a 'Straight Pride' march are labeled 'homophobes' by Avengers star Chris Evans

Captain America’s Chris Evans has blasted a group of men seeking to hold a ‘Straight Pride’ parade in his home town of Boston, shortly after the event’s lead organizer claimed straight white men now find themselves in an ‘oppressed majority’.

In a scathing succession of tweets the Marvel star blasted the event as a ‘homophobic’ charade, telling the three organizers of the event to look at themselves instead of at other people’s sexual orientations.

Collectively, the tweets received more than 100,000 retweets and 500,000 likes, and Evans was inundated with praise for speaking out so bluntly against the proposed event.

Evan’s messages came in reference to the organisation Super Happy Fun America, and their desire to host a ‘Straight Pride’ event in the center of Boston, one month after the conclusion LGBTQ pride, which runs throughout the entirety of June.

Group - Board - John - Hugo - Mark

The group’s board, consisting of John Hugo, Mark Sahady and Chris Bartley claim to be working ‘on behalf of the straight community in order to foster respect and awareness with people from all walks of life’.

But despite their claims of being a part of a maligned and discriminated majority, the trio’s call-to-action has mobilized more of a social media roasting than it has a social movement.

Evan - Scolding - Congresswoman - Alexandra - Ocasio-Cortez

Adding to Evan’s scolding, Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez chimed in with a sarcastic comment of her own, poking fun at the group’s motives.

In light of the global backlash since news of their event went viral online, Super Happy Fun America’s (SHFA) President, John Hugo, has hit back of the tirade of messages the group have received from the likes of Evans, AOC and thousands more online.
