Germany has urged its citizens to wear the Jewish skullcap as a surge of anti-Semitism continues to sweep across the country.
The anti-Semitism commissioner Felix Klein called for the public to wear the kippah ahead of the anti-Israel protests due to take place on Saturday.
Move - Demonstrators - Streets - Support - Palestinians
The move, which comes as demonstrators take to the streets to express their support for Palestinians on Al-Quds Day, is aimed at showing solidarity with the Jewish community.
In a statement sent to CNN Mr Klein said: 'I call on all citizens of Berlin and across Germany to wear the yarmulke (as the skullcap is known in Yiddish) next Saturday if there are new, intolerable attacks targeting Israel and Jews on the occasion of Al-Quds Day in Berlin.
