Alabama Public Television (APT) has announced it will not air an episode of the kids’ cartoon “Arthur” featuring a gay wedding.
“Parents have trusted Alabama Public Television for more than 50 years,” APT Director of Programming Mike McKenzie told AL.com:
Parents - Children - APT - Supervision - Children
“Parents trust that their children can watch APT without their supervision. We also know that children who are younger than the ‘target’ audience for Arthur also watch the program.”
Another episode of “Arthur,” featuring “a girl with two mothers” was also banned by APT in 2005, because airing it would have violated parents’ trust in the network, APT said at the time.
