The daughter of Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson has been found guilty of police misconduct after standing on a suspect's head 'like it was a football'.

PC Laura Lawson, whose father plays Jim McDonald in the soap, 'lost it' when she and four other officers were called to an out of control house party in Warwickshire.

Alex - Burkill - Ground - Colleagues - Officers

She kicked Alex Burkill, 17, when he was forced to the ground but was restrained by colleagues and later reported to senior officers.

The 31-year-old admitted common assault and quit after eight years with West Mercia Police.

October - Lawson - Kenilworth - Warwickshire - Sentence

Last October Lawson, from Kenilworth in Warwickshire, was handed a three-month sentence, suspended for 12 months, subjected to a curfew and ordered to pay £1,200.

Despite quitting the force she was found guilty of gross misconduct at a special case hearing on Tuesday.

She was told that if she had not resigned she would have been sacked.

The panel also said Lawson will be placed on the College of Policing barred list.
