Divorcing couple moved out of their home only to leave their dog behind to starve to death

Prosecutors say a suburban Indianapolis couple who vacated their home during divorce proceedings callously left their dog behind to starve to death.

The emaciated pet, named Chuck, was found dead in January in the couple's Johnson County trailer home some ten days after they had left the property.

Necropsy - Death

A necropsy determined he starved to death.

31-year-old Michael S. Setser of Greenwood faces a misdemeanor charge of abandonment or neglect of a vertebrate animal according to The Indianapolis Star.

Amanda - Setser - Franklin - Misdemeanor - Animal

Twenty-eight-year-old Amanda Setser of Franklin faces a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge.

Prosecutors say the pair 'failed to take Chuck with them or provide him with food and water' when they moved out of their home in January.

Cause - Affidavit - Johnson - County - Animal

According to a probable cause affidavit, a Johnson County Animal Control officer found the dead, emaciated dog named Chuck on January 17 in the couple's trailer home - around ten days after the couple had left the place.

When Amanda left, Michael moved out, too, prosecutors said.
