Susan Rice, the former national security advisor and ambassador to the United Nations under President Barack Obama, earned nearly $286,000 on the board of Netflix last year, a report has revealed.

The streaming service published 2018 earnings data for each of its board members on Tuesday ahead of an annual stockholder meeting.

Ten - Board - Members - Stock - Options

Eight of the ten board members earned $377,861 in stock options last year, while Rice raked in 75 percent of that amount because she was on the board for nine months.

The most recent appointee, Mathias Dopfner, earned $96,129 in his first three months on the board.

Rice's appointment was met with widespread backlash from conservatives who threatened to cancel their Netflix subscriptions.

As the head of the National Security Council, Rice delivered the daily briefing to then-President Obama during his second term.

This put her in charge of foreign and national security policy, intelligence and military efforts in the years following the 2012 attack on the US embassy in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead.

Rice came under fire from Republican lawmakers who accused her of underplaying the attack as a spontaneous act of violence in response to an anti-Muslim film, while Obama admitted it was a premeditated attack.

She was also berated for inappropriately 'unmasking' the names of associates of President Donald Trump that appeared in intelligence reports last year.

Two months after Rice joined the board, Netflix signed a multi-year agreement with the Obamas to produce films and shows for the platform through their company Higher Ground Productions.
