South Africa leopard pounces to capture a canary flying out of a tree in incredible attack

Incredible footage shows a daring leopard leap metres into the air to catch a canary as it flew out of a bush in South Africa.

The clip, filmed in the Kruger National Park on April 8, shows the big cat stalking its prey before it jumps up and plucks the bird mid-flight.

Feline - Dirt - Track - Game - Reserve

The feisty feline had appeared peaceful as it walked down a dirt track in the game reserve.

Suddenly, in front of it, two canaries burst out of the long grass, with the first safely flying away.

Victim - Wildcat - Corner - Eye

But the second falls victim to the spotted wildcat, which sees it try to take off out of the corner of its eye.

The predator takes a few short steps as a run up then makes its devastating attack.
