All the talk about Fox’s Marvel licensing that transfers over to Disney now that the Mouse House owns the studio was centered around the main “X-Men” films and the “Fantastic Four” franchise. However, you can’t forget about the recent series “The Gifted,” which appears on Fox and features some of the lesser-known X-Men characters that haven’t really been featured in the film series. Well, we hate to break the news to you, but Fox has gone ahead and canceled the series after only two seasons, despite decent ratings.
Deadline is reporting that Fox’s decision-making regarding certain series has changed since the ownership has changed hands. And now that Fox doesn’t have ownership of “The Gifted,” and it’s squarely in the realm of Marvel TV, the network is primarily concerned with traditional ratings, and that means the “X-Men” spin-off is now dead. Normally, Fox would take other factors into consideration, such as online viewing (which saves many of these lower-rated series from cancellation). But as of now, “The Gifted” is no more.
