The family of eight-year-old Martin Richard, who was killed in the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, attended the race on the sixth anniversary of the terror attack that claimed their son's life.
Martin's parents, Bill and Denise Richard, were seen comforting one another as a moment of silence was held at 2.49pm.

The bells of Old South Church were rung at 2.49pm, six years to the minute after the first of two bombs exploded on Boylston Street.
Their son Henry also attended the race.

Martin had been at the finish line with his parents, his brother, Henry, and their sister, Jane, who lost her leg in the attack.
He was one of three people killed on April 15, 2013, while more than 260 suffered injuries.

In 2015, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death for his involvement in the terror attack.
