He's been steering the Labour ship for four years since becoming the party's leader.

But Jeremy Corbyn found himself high and dry this morning as he posed for pictures in a canoe - on dry land.

Opposition - Leader - Pictures - Wooden - Boat

The hard-Left opposition leader posed for pictures in a green wooden boat, donning a life jacket and safety helmet, during a visit to West Yorkshire.

But bizarrely his boat remained on dry-land throughout the photocall during MPs' Easter recess at Sunnyvale Fishery and Outdoor Activity Centre, a youth crime reduction project in Calderdale, near Halifax.

Brexit - Turmoil - Commons - April - MPs

Despite the ongoing Brexit turmoil the Commons does not sit again until April 23, with MPs being given 11 days to have a holiday and work in their constituencies.

While he is in the north of England Prime Minister Theresa May is in Wale son a walking holiday with her husband Philip.

Mr - Corbyn - Visit - Home - Secretary

Mr Corbyn, who was accompanied on his visit by shadow home secretary Diane Abbott, posed for pictures with little more than two weeks to go until local elections take place in England and Northern Ireland.

The 69-year-old also tried his hand at archery in front of the cameras, with one eyewitness saying he 'eventually found the target'.

Wayward - Efforts - Shot - Ring - Shot

After half-a-dozen wayward efforts, he managed a shot in the black ring and then quit while he was ahead after landing a shot in the red.

He then moved on to the watersports area and talked to youngsters after donning the life jacket and a helmet to sit in the canoe.

He later said he was determined to make 'youth provision' a requirement for local councils, saying: 'This, of course, is in a background where there's been a 70 per cent cut in youth service provision in the past nine years - £800 million taken out of youth services.
