Richard Madden reveals Bodyguard was inspired by a REAL affair in government

Whilst it may have been the hit series of 2018, there were several viewers who questioned the BBC series' accuracy.

However, Richard Madden has revealed that Bodyguard was actually inspired by real life events involving a high profile government official.

Scottish - Actor - Sergeant - David - Budd

The 32-year-old Scottish actor played Sergeant David Budd in the show - a bodyguard who has an affair with the woman he's protecting - Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes).

The actor revealed that in order to prepare for the role, he worked with military advisers, who revealed that 'sometimes lines get muddied' between people and their employers.

Los - Angeles - Times - 'People - Relationship

He told The Los Angeles Times: 'People said it was very fictionalised, this relationship with the Home Secretary.

'But from them, without naming names, they said actually you do end up very close to these people and sometimes that line does get muddied and you end up in different relationships.'
