Many commuters will need to pony up more to get into New York starting Sunday.
The MTA's toll hikes for several major bridge and tunnel crossings go into effect March 31, resulting in a six to 11.8 per cent increase depending on whether drivers have an E-Z Pass, NBC New York reported.
Commuters - E-Z - Passes - New - York
Commuters without E-Z Passes who cross into New York Sunday via the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will see a $2 increase over the previous $17 toll, bringing the new one-way crossing total to $19. Those with E-Z Passes will be charged $12.24 instead.
Staten Island residents, however, will now pay anywhere from $3.40 to $9.80 for that crossing.
Toll - Rates - Robert - F - Kennedy
Also receiving new toll rates are the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge, Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and Queens Midtown Tunnel, now $9.50 or $6.12 with an E-ZPass.
Meanwhile, the Henry Hudson Bridge toll is $7.00 without an E-Z Pass and $2.80 with one.
