Bethany Hamilton has withdrawn her name from the ESPYs category for Best Female Athlete With A Disability.

The news was reported ahead of tonight's annual ESPY Awards in Los Angeles by E!.

'Bethany - Nomination - Fit - ESPN - Category

'Bethany expressed to ESPN that she was appreciative of the nomination but didn't feel it was a good fit for her, so ESPN removed her from the category upon her request,' ESPN told the website in a statement.

The 26-year-old pro surfer who lost her left arm in a shark attack when she was 13, had previously been announced as a nominee along with four other para-athletes.
