A somewhat ridiculous series of events unraveled during Thursday night's Emmerdale - eventually leading to the character Rhona Goskirk learning she couldn't have children.

Soap - Fans - Zoe - Henry - Hay-bale

Soap fans watched the veterinarian [played by Zoe Henry] get impaled after a flying hay-bale landed on her thanks to her boyfriend, Pete Barton [Anthony Quinlan], smashing a tractor, without brakes, into the barn.

Vehicle - Barn - Wall - Towering - Bales

The vehicle ended up smashing through the barn wall, into the towering bales, which fell onto Rhona, knocking her backwards.

She landed on a metal spike and started to bleed profusely, her phone flying out of her hand and out of reach.

Move - Pete - Matty - Time - Kettle

In a bizarre move, Pete and Matty decided that was an apt time to pop the kettle on, clearly shaken by the incident.

Unaware Pete's girlfriend had suffered at the hands of the brake-less tractor, the duo headed inside for a brew.

Pete - Beverage - Barn - Rhona - Death

Only when Pete put two-and-two together over the beverage did he dash back out to the barn to discover Rhona, unconscious, potentially bleeding to death.

Chucking bales aside, Pete demanded Matty call an ambulance, wrapping his shirt around Rhona's wound...
