A Mexican radio announcer and a reporter were gunned down inside a car over the weekend.
Announcer Reynaldo López and reporter Carlos Cota were shot at more than 14 times in Hermosillo, Sonora, according to a press release from the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR).

Horrific photos of the crime scene showed Lopez's lifeless body inside the car.
Another image shows at least five bullet holes in the windshield of the silver Chevrolet they were riding in.

Mexican authorities said Lopez and Cota, who is the former sports producer of the Televisa network in Sonora, were driving near Serna and California Boulevard in Hermosillo when several men armed with machine guns approached their vehicle.
The men immediately opened fire on the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Lopez succumbed to his injuries at the scene. It's unclear how many time he was shot.
Cota was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition. It's also unclear how many times he was shot.
Murder - López - Journalists - Commission
With the murder of López, 144 journalists have been slain since 2000, according to the commission.
Lopez is the third journalist to be killed this year.

'The National Commission of Human Rights expresses its condolences to the relatives of the deceased journalist and its solidarity with the person who was injured and to the journalistic union of that federative entity,' the statement read.
