‘Child’s Play’ Reboot Trailer: The Franchise That Refused To Die Out Is Back With Aubrey Plaza

Not every horror franchise has stayed as solid as “Child’s Play.” Despite all odds, Don Mancini’soriginal 1988 story about a Good Guys doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer still remains relevant as a cult slasher. However, just in case some are starting to weary of the same old Chucky, MGM—which distributed the first movie—has decided to relaunch the franchise giving it a fresh start.

Even though not much information has been provided so far, the movie poster suggests that the updated Chucky will incorporate new tech, allowing remote control. Besides, this time the doll goes under the name “Buddi,” which is quite in accordance with the slogan: More than a toy… he’s your best friend. Chucky’s voice has been recast too, since Brad Dourif will be replaced after 30 years.
