Two quick thinking police officers worked together to coax a scared kitten stuck around 30ft up a tree to jump to safety.

Officers Devin Trotti and Randy Stallard from Lufkin Police Department in Texas used crime scene tape and a blanket in their ten-minute rescue operation on Friday.

Video from Officer Trotti's bodycam shows him getting supplies out of the police car and walking towards his colleague who is looking up at the tree.

A line of yellow tape can be seen going up to the tree from their vehicle before Officer Trotti says: 'Trust me, I can get that cat down. Hold this blanket.'

Officers - Side - Blanket - Half - Position

The officers then take a side of the blanket each and fold it in half while they position themselves underneath the cat.

The men shake the blanket while Officer Trotti waves one arm to tug the line of crime scene tape, trying to get the cat's attention and get it to move.

'Come - Cat - Cat

He says: 'Come on down cat. Come on cat.'

After a few more shakes the little kitten falls onto the blanket and Officer Stallard gently picks up the scared feline.
