Offering a intimate look into their life, Brooklyn invited Architectural Digest to explore her Cashiers, North Carolina digs for this month's issue.

The Grace And Frankie actress, 31, talked about how their rustic second residence has reshaped their lives in the accompanying interview.

The parents-of-two thought hard before settling on Cashiers, which is about three hours from the state's largest city, Charlotte.

Brooklyn - Cashiers - Balance - Country - Cosmopolitan

Brooklyn said she thinks of Cashiers as the perfect balance of country and cosmopolitan.

'For us, it was about finding a place that hadn't become too touristy. It's a really tiny town with families from cities like Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia. So there's an interesting culture, too—like, ex–big city kids.'

Space - Friends - Better - Lives - Help

To design the barn-inspired space the Friends With Better Lives actress enlisted the help of local talents Ben Harris of Harris Custom Builders and Travis Mileti from Mountainworks Custom Home Design.

The seven-bedroom abode is full of country charm, featuring a lush blue and green color palette and tons of locally sourced materials like granite and reclaimed wood.
