Female journalist on left-wing German newspaper is assaulted by far-right group

A left-wing journalist has been attacked by far-right activists in Berlin, her employer has said.

The reporter, who works for Taz Daily, was grabbed while confronting protesters from the Identitarian Movement outside the paper's Berlin office on Monday.

It comes after Frank Magnitz, leader of the AfD in Bremen, was savagely beaten in what police believe was a 'politically motivated attack'.

Video of the incident, posted online by the Identitarian Movement, shows the woman walking into the Taz building as activists put up posters outside.

Among the images on the posters is a picture of Magnitz lying in hospital with a nasty head wound, along with slogans denouncing 'far-left violence'.

The woman can be seen ripping down several of the posters and trying to dismantle a display that the activists are building on the pavement when one man puts his arm across her and tries to push her away.

The pair then get into a tussle, in which the woman grabs his scarf, before they separate and she goes inside the building.
