A motorist has been arrested after a 11-year-old boy was killed in a 'hit-and-run' collision.

The youngster - believed to have been cycling - was treated by paramedics at the scene of the incident in Beswick, Manchester, but died of his injuries in hospital.

VW - Golf - Collision - Albert - Street

A grey VW Golf, believed to have been involved in the collision in Albert Street shortly after 6.10pm on Saturday, left the scene and was found abandoned a short distance away.

A 31-year-old man later attended a police station and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Suspect - Custody - Greater - Manchester - Police

The suspect remains in custody for questioning, said Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
