As the year draws to its conclusion, social media giant Twitter has taken a look back at the last 340 days and picked out the favourite tweets.

The list was topped by Harry Maguire, Leicester City football player who became a sporting sensation and shot to internet fame when he and his colleagues convinced the nation it was 'coming home' at the world cup in Russia.

His witty tweet cashed in on the football fever that grabbed the nation amidst a record-breaking heatwave and beat Ross from friends and a 'pushy' parent to the top spot, who came in third and second, respectively.

Other entrants include touching messages to those who have passed away in the last year, with Ariana Grande and Paul Chuckle tugging at the heart strings of thousands of Twitter users.
