More charges filed against California surgeon and his girlfriend

A California surgeon and his girlfriend who are accused of drugging and sexually assaulting two women have now been charged with alleged attacks on five other victims.

The additional charges against Dr. Grant Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Riley, 31, were announced on Wednesday and include kidnapping and rape by use of drugs.

Robicheaux - Women - Girlfriend - Assaults

Robicheaux is charged with sexually assaulting five additional women, while his girlfriend is now charged in three additional assaults.

The pair appeared in an Orange County court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Robicheaux - Riley - Bail - Judge - Bail

Both Robicheaux and Riley posted bail after a judge ordered their bail to be raised to $1 million each, up from $100,000 each.

Robicheaux could now face a term of more than 82 years to life in prison if convicted. Riley could face 63 years to life in prison if convicted.

Friends - Family - Break - Courtroom - Proceedings

Both had friends and family who walked up and hugged them during a break in the courtroom proceedings.

During the bail discussion, Riley turned to see them in the gallery and fought back tears. Afterward, she cried in the courtroom while being hugged by supporters.


'Thanks for coming,' she said.

Robicheaux, who is an orthopedic surgeon from Newport Beach, briefly appeared on Bravo reality show 'Online Dating Rituals of the American Male'.

Pair - Month - Orange - County - District

When the pair was originally charged last month, the Orange County district attorney's office said they received leads to more than a dozen possible additional victims.

Authorities had called for any other possible victims to come forward after police found hundreds of videos of intoxicated women believed to have been assaulted by the duo.

Investigators believe the duo trawled bars and restaurants in Newport Beach for victims and also hunted their prey at festivals over the past few years including Burning Man, the Dirtybird Campout festival and the Splash House festival in Palm Springs.
