Varsity Blues actor Ron Lester dies from kidney and liver failure at age 45 in Dallas hospital

Ron Lester died on Friday at age 45 from kidney and liver failure, according to his agent Dave Bradley, who confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly.

The magazine reports that the actor - who played a high school football player in the 1999 movie Varsity Blues - was moved to hospice care from the intensive care unit on Friday.

Ron passed away at around 9 pm central time in Dallas, Texas with his fiancee by his side, after he 'requested to be taken off life support,' according to TMZ.

He had been in the hospital for four months, battling both kidney and liver problems.

Ron, who played Billy Bob in Varsity Blues, also starred in the show Popular as well as the film Not Another Teen Movie.
