In the lead up to their first World Cup match, nerves in the England camp will undoubtedly be running high.

And this has no doubt been made worse by the massive mosquito swarm that has reportedly engulfed their hotel.

Insects - Three - Lions - Stop-over - Volgograd

The blood-sucking insects have been gathering outside the Three Lions' stop-over in Volgograd and local authorities have been forced to drastic measures.

Helicopters have sprayed insecticide over the stadium where England is scheduled to play Tunisia on Monday and England's medical staff have stocked up on insect repellant.

Sky reporter Kaveh Solhekol tweeted last night: 'Just had to abort going live on Sky Sports News with seconds to spare because of invasion of flies outside England team hotel. Big problem here.'
